The Dawn of Diversity
We are at a pivotal moment in human history, one that requires a reflection on freedom and wellbeing. The modern democratic experiment of self-government and socio-economic cooperation faces both new and old challenges of the global (hunger, equality, and ecological) pandemic.

From bio-cultural diversity to human social diversity, join us in thinking about how the “Dawn of Diversity” can help us evolve as a planet and move the dial towards a more inclusive world built upon a vision of social justice that places humanity in an interdependent and ethical relationship of connection to all other life on earth.

Race, Equity, and Humanity
As we reflect on the uprisings of Race in 2020, the Hunger Pandemic going on NOW across Africa underscores the overall vulnerability to Climate Change & COVID (economic system).

Given the accelerating rate of climate and other ecological changes in motion, and understanding the current status of vulnerable populations, many are coming to grips with the idea that there will not be a return to 'normal' post-COVID in our time.
  • In this time of uncertainty for our human civilization, as we find ourselves speeding into Year Zero of the 6th Mass Extinction, how must humanity prepare and adapt to the exponential changes in-store?
  • What can our human family learn from genocides and refugees to defend human dignity?
  • With the failure of the status quo to prevent war, what must happen for social justice, wellbeing, and food security as a foundation for building peace?
Inviting in leaders from post-genocide Rwanda, Cambodia, and leading environmental health experts from Sudan (via interview), we will explore the relationship between Human Security/ Conflict/ Resources (scarcity and disparity).

Share this! @theglobalsummit #RaceEquityHumanity #BuildingPeace #HumanDignity #HumanRights

"The Response" Film
In the wake of Hurricane Maria, a quiet revolution has been percolating on the island of Puerto Rico. What began as an impromptu community kitchen meant to help feed survivors in the town of Caguas quickly grew into an island-wide network of mutual aid centers (Centros de Apoyo Mutuo) with the ultimate goal to restore power — both electric and civic — to the people.

The award-winning 30-minute micro-budget film, “The Response: How Puerto Ricans Are Restoring Power to the People,” explores how the mutual aid centers sprung up across the island while centering the voices of those involved in these bold grassroots relief efforts and the movement for popular power that is continuing to emerge.

The Response is a podcast and documentary series exploring the remarkable communities that arise in the aftermath of disasters. Spanning the globe, each episode takes a deep dive into a unique location to uncover the under-reported stories that are hidden just beneath the surface of extraordinary events.

Shareable is an award-winning nonprofit media outlet, action network, and consultancy. Our mission is to empower communities to share for a more resilient, equitable, and joyful world. We inspire social change by publishing solutions-based journalism, running campaigns, and helping our consulting clients achieve their goals through sharing.

Thrive By Design: Conditions for a Regenerative Society
How Do We Thrive?

In this moment of global pause, upheaval, and uncertainty, many are asking not only “how are we going to make it through,” but “how can we prepare the ground for something better to emerge?” Author, facilitator and consultant Michelle Holliday proposes that we need an expanded story to be able to see what else is possible beyond our current habits of thought and action. During this session, she will outline the shift we’re living through, from a mechanistic paradigm to one based on life and living systems. She will be joined by [a pioneering and visionary business leader], who will share his/her/their perspectives on this shift, as well as stories of how it is lived out in his/her/their organization. In unscripted dialogue, the two speakers will explore how we can shape our organizations as practice grounds for an economic system that is more resilient, caring and aligned with the needs and limits of the biosphere. In all, this session will challenge assumptions, offer inspiration and provide clarity in tumultuous times.

Trimtabs for Preserving Life on Earth
The 6th mass extinction also referred to the Anthropocene extinction along with Climate change are the two single most defining moments in our short human history.

We’ve been witnessing a renewed push to protect the last remaining pristine natural ecosystems from many different stakeholders. In the public’s eyes, it is the environmental NGOs that have been leading this fight. On the ground, it is the ones who identify with nature.

Representing about 5% of the human population and living on 25% of earth’s surface where 80% of terrestrial biodiversity is found, Indigenous Peoples have demonstrated how to live in symbiosis with Nature.
This panel will explore paths to preserve biodiversity, from knowledge-based systems to governance.

Indigenous Peoples:
  • Represent about 5% of the global population
    >370 million 5,000 distinct cultures
    ½ of living languages
½ live in a tribal system
Inhabit 25% of earth’s terrestrial land
Where 80% of the world’s biodiversity is found

With the emergence of "fake news", how do we know what's real?

We are 100 years into the manufacturing of consent of society by vested interests.

Governance meets Innovation
The world is changing. Not only because of COVD-19, but also because of earlier trends such as digitalization, climate change, generational differences, emerging economies becoming increasingly central in global power structures, and increasing global inequalities.

At the same time, while we put a strong focus on innovation in technology, business, and research, we fail to explore innovative formats and system redesign in governance. New approaches to governance are essential in providing solutions for the transformations to come, rather than generating unnecessary tensions.
The role of this session is to explore the types of change we could foresee in governance at both national and global levels by bringing together voices from key panelists that are engaged with areas of global transformation highlighted by The Global Summit this year.
