Yuri Kageyama is a poet, journalist, award-winning filmmaker. She wrote “NEWS FROM FUKUSHIMA: Meditation on an Under-Reported Catastrophe by a Poet,” a Yoshiaki Tago film, Grand Festival Award Berkeley Video & Film Festival 2019, Official Selection Arts X SDGS Festival April 2020, Select Showcase Guam International Film Festival on PBS Guam June 2020, Finalist Best Indies Feature Oniros Film Awards 2020, Finalist Best Asian Feature Film New Vision International Film Festival 2019. Performance directed by Carla Blank, ZSpace San Francisco 2017 with Takemi Kitamura, Monisha Shiva, Shigeko Sara Suga, Stomu Takeishi, Isaku Kageyama, Kouzan Kikuchi, Joe Small, Blu. Debuted La MaMa NY 2015 with Melvin Gibbs leading the music. Ishmael Reed called it “a powerful reflection on the corruption and greed of men and their indifference to human life,” earning Kageyama "a place among the leading world poets."

She also wrote THE VERY SPECIAL DAY, first published KONCH 2013, 2016 picturebook illustrated by Munenori Tamagawa and a 2019 stop motion animation by Hayatto. The film won the Grand Jury Award Oniros Film Awards and Finalist Kosice International Monthly Film Festival, both in 2020. Silver Award Winner Spotlight Short Film Awards, Honorable Mention Animation Los Angeles Film Awards, New York Film Awards, Festigious International Film Festival, Top Shorts Film Festival, Award of Distinction Canada Shorts Film Festival, Best Animated film Hollywood Blood Horror Festival, Best Global Shorts, all 2019. Her book THE NEW AND SELECTED YURI (Ishmael Reed Publishing Co. 2011 ). Her poems and stories published in Pow-Wow: Charting the Fault Lines in the American Experience, Konch, Breaking Silence, Greenfield Review, On a Bed of Rice, Tokyo Poetry Journal, San Francisco Stories, Beyond Rice. Her poem "ode to the stroller" Public Poetry Series 2015. Her poem "No Gift of the Magi" Finalist 2013 Cultural Weekly's poetry contest.

She wrote, directed, shot, edited STORY OF MIU and I WILL BLEED at New York Film Academy in 2014, wrote lyrics for OH MY BUDDHA and I WILL BLEED (2017 Interstellar album). Translations for Carla Blank and Robert Wilson's "KOOL: Dancing in My Mind." Read at SFJAZZ CENTER, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Yoshi's, Nihonmachi Streetfair, Nuyorican Cafe, Bowery Poetry Club, Lehman College, plan-B, Aoyama Gakuin, Inokashira Park. Her spoken-word band Yuricane features Melvin Gibbs, Eric Kamau Gravatt, Pheeroan akLaff, Winchester Nii Tete, Kouzan Kikuchi. Read with Shuntaro Tanikawa, Seamus Heaney, Sachiko Yoshihara, Shozu Ben, Prescoe Tabios, others.
